Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

H2O is a water tracking app built by Lunarbits. This policy explains what information the app uses and how it is handled. The short version: your hydration and health data stays on your device and in your own private iCloud account, and we do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use third-party trackers.

H2O has no accounts to sign up for and no analytics or advertising SDKs. We do not operate servers that receive your personal data — your information lives on your device and syncs through Apple iCloud, which only you can access.

Information You Provide

H2O stores the hydration information you enter so the app can work, including your daily goal, the drinks and amounts you log, reminder schedules, units, and app preferences. This data is stored locally on your device.

Apple Health (HealthKit)

If you grant permission, H2O reads and writes water intake data through Apple HealthKit so your hydration stays in sync with the Health app and other apps you trust. This data is managed by Apple on your device — Lunarbits never receives or stores it on our own servers. You control HealthKit access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health, and we only use Health data to display and record your hydration inside the app. We do not use Health data for advertising or share it with any third party.

iCloud Sync

H2O uses Apple CloudKit to keep your data in sync across your iPhone, Apple Watch, and widgets. Your data is stored in your private iCloud database, tied to your Apple ID. Lunarbits cannot see or access the contents of your private iCloud data. Syncing is handled entirely by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. If you disable iCloud for H2O, your data remains on your device.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, H2O schedules local notifications on your device to prompt you to drink water. These reminders are generated on-device and are not sent through or logged by any external server.

Diagnostics

If you opt in through iOS, Apple may share aggregated, anonymized crash and performance diagnostics with developers via App Store Connect. This information is provided by Apple, does not identify you, and is used only to fix bugs and improve stability. H2O does not embed any third-party analytics.

Information We Do Not Collect

Purchases

If H2O offers any in-app purchases or subscriptions, payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. Lunarbits does not receive or store your payment card details. Purchase handling is governed by Apple's Media Services Terms.

Data Retention & Deletion

Because your data lives on your device and in your private iCloud, you are in control of it. You can delete individual entries in the app, and you can remove all H2O data by deleting the app and clearing its data from iCloud in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage. Water data written to Apple Health can be removed in the Health app.

Children's Privacy

H2O is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app does not collect personal data on our servers, no such information is gathered.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA (California) to access, correct, or delete personal data. Since H2O keeps your data on your own device and iCloud rather than on our servers, you can exercise these rights directly by viewing, editing, or deleting your data as described above. If you have questions, contact us and we will help.

Security

Your data is protected by the security of your device and your Apple ID, including device encryption and iCloud's protections. We recommend keeping your device passcode and Apple ID secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and material changes will be reflected on this page.
